The Littlest Gay Bookshop opened its doors Saturday inside Iron Orchid Tattoos, a rainbow shelf of queer novels wedged into a tattoo studio on King Street. Shlo Harris and the other owners are betting that a small-town bookshop lives best when it shares rent with needles and ink, when the people who walk in are already looking for a place that sees them. A yard sale ran alongside the opening. This is what it looks like when a community builds its own corner.
