The North Carolina Department of Transportation will begin overnight resurfacing work on U.S. 421 in Watauga County between Grove Street and Old U.S. 421 South, starting Sunday at 7 p.m. The work will be performed by an NCDOT contractor.

NCDOT starts tearing up U.S. 421 between Grove Street and Old U.S. 421 South this Sunday at 7 p.m., overnight work that will keep going for however long it takes to lay down fresh asphalt. Plan around it if you're heading north through town after dark, or south on the bypass if you can swing it. The work runs nights only.
