The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for portions of the North Carolina High Country including Alleghany, Ashe, Surry, Watauga and Wilkes counties, in effect through 8:00 PM EDT on October 11. Excessive rainfall could cause flooding in the watch area and adjacent parts of southwest Virginia.
