Appalachian State University and nonprofit organization E2D distributed 200 refurbished laptops to first-year, first-generation students at Plemmons Student Union in Boone. The distribution on Aug. 27 served eligible students across multiple App State campuses.

Two hundred refurbished laptops. First-year, first-generation App State students picked them up on Aug. 27 at Plemmons Student Union, courtesy of a partnership between the university and E2D, a nonprofit that rescues computers from the waste stream and gets them working. Laptops are not optional anymore, and first-generation students often carry costs the university does not cover. This closes one of them.
