All 100 county election boards across North Carolina start mailing absentee ballots Friday. If you asked for one, check your mailbox starting then. Return it early, don't wait until the last week, and verify your ballot got counted once it arrives at your board. Early voting starts in person on Oct. 15, Election Day is Nov. 3.
