One hundred twenty-one acres in Old Fields Township, protected now, staying that way. The Linvilles put a conservation easement on land that holds the headwater springs feeding Three Top Creek, which is classified as Outstanding Resource Waters. That creek runs through the North Fork New River watershed, meaning this parcel matters for the whole basin. Blue Ridge Conservancy sealed the deal. A private landowner choosing to lock in protection instead of selling to development is the only reason these mountains still have unbroken water.
