Gas prices in the High Country reached $3.86 per gallon for regular unleaded this week, up 17 cents from the previous low of $3.69 reported on July 29. The statewide North Carolina average has increased by approximately $1 since last year.

Regular unleaded hit $3.86 at the pump here Tuesday morning, up seventeen cents since late July and roughly a dollar higher than a year ago. The state average has climbed along with it.
