Early voting ends Saturday, Oct. 31, at 3pm. Same-day registration works at any early-voting site through the last day. It is not available on Election Day for most voters.

Watauga has six sites: App State's Plemmons Student Union, the county administration building on West King Street, the Blowing Rock American Legion, Deep Gap Fire Department, Meat Camp Fire Department and the Western Watauga Community Center in Sugar Grove. All six are open 8am to 7:30pm through Friday and 8am to 3pm on Saturday.

Ashe has one site, the Agricultural Services Building in Jefferson, open weekdays 8am to 7:30pm and Saturday 8am to 3pm.

Avery has one site, the Avery County Pool in Newland. It is open 8am to 4:30pm through Friday, earlier than Watauga and Ashe, and 8am to 3pm on Saturday.

Early-vote totals for Watauga, Ashe and Avery, with a party breakdown, are at left917.net/vote. The State Board of Elections posts each day's count the next morning, so the numbers run a day behind.

Saturday at 3pm is the last chance to vote early. Election Day is a different place and a different line.
