The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for portions of northwest North Carolina, including Alleghany and Ashe counties, due to excessive rainfall. The advisory was in effect until 5:45 p.m. EDT on August 7 and warned of minor flooding in low-lying and poorly drained areas.
