The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for portions of northwest North Carolina, including Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes counties, due to expected excessive rainfall. The advisory was in effect from 9:40 p.m. on August 1 through 12:45 a.m. on August 2, with minor flooding anticipated in low-lying and poorly drained areas.
