The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for portions of the North Carolina High Country and surrounding areas from August 2 at 5:48 p.m. until August 3 at 2 a.m. due to the possibility of flooding from excessive rainfall. The watch covers Watauga County and several neighboring counties in North Carolina and Virginia.
