Hyper-local news & culture

No algorithm. Just word of mouth.

left917 is the High Country's independent read: local news, music, culture, and what's on, all in one place. No app, no login, no ads. And we're writing our own stuff now, not just rounding up everyone else's. Putting on an event? Share your calendar and we'll keep it on the air. Saw a flyer for something that isn't here? Send us the photo.

Worth knowing

Boone Town Council meets at 9am in Council Chambers. On the agenda: an informal presentation on Ridgehouse, a 332-unit apartment complex on the 105 Bypass that wants annexation and zoning, a public hearing on the closeout of the grant for the Deck Hill water tank replacement, a Boone resident's proposal to change the direction of traffic on part of Howard Street, and a mosaic butterfly bench for the Greenway. Staff also proposes canceling or moving the November and December meetings around the holidays. Public comment is on the agenda.

Vote early

Early voting opens tomorrow. Read what's actually on your ballot, the races by district and the three amendments, then check sites and hours. Voterfest marches leave at 5:30pm Thursday and Friday, and No Kings: Vote Early runs 4–6pm Saturday at the Ag Center. Every march and rally.
