Wed, Sept. 30. Tonight, Spell of Leaves and Barton Carroll each play a set at Evans Auditorium at Lees-McRae, 7pm, free. An hour earlier at Broyhill, App State faculty build a recital around Amanda Harberg's 2025 trio for horn, bassoon and piano.
The Clement Street apartments cleared their first vote. The Boone Planning Commission unanimously recommended the rezoning Monday night with four conditions, including leasing by the unit instead of by the bedroom. It goes to Town Council for a final vote Oct. 28.
Grandfather Mountain's Fall Color Rambles start Saturday, daily at 1 and included with admission. Saturday's looking stormy, and rain can move the walk indoors.
In Avery, commissioners and the school board meet jointly Thursday at 5:30 on school funding, in the high school media center.
