Friday is Dolly Parton Day in Boone. Council proclaimed it Wednesday night, 9/25 for "9 to 5," exactly a month after she died, and asked everyone in town to do one good deed for Dolly. Here's an easy one. Sign up a kid under 5 for her Imagination Library, a free book in the mail every month, run here by the Children's Council of Watauga County. Birdie's was Dolly flash for left917.
Then go see a band. John Moreland plays the Appalachian Theatre at 7 with Laurel Lewis opening. Eco Spaceship and Hellbender split the bill at AMB, Rastacoustic sets up at Liquid Roots, and Yesterday's Clothes, Current Blue, and Inquest close out the night at Lily's.
New on the calendar this month. Watauga Arts Council, SouthEnd Brewing, Tweetsie Railroad's Ghost Train nights, Indivisible High Country, F.A.R.M. Cafe, High Country COG, and Blue Ridge Conservancy all feed straight into the broadcast now. Thanks to every one of them for keeping their calendars public. That's what makes a site like this work.
