Todd Promenade

Sat, Nov 7 · 1:00–7:00 PM

The second Todd Promenade: a day of dance workshops at the Mercantile, then a public square dance. Workshops run 1 to 5 PM and are free (a small donation is requested; register at thetoddmercantile.com): Dance Calling 101 and 102 with Phil Jamison, Flatfoot Dancing with Gordy Hinners and Rebecca Keeter, Playing Music for Dances with Paul Brown and Nancy Mamlin, and sound system setup with Daniel Sherill. A kids-only dance follows a little after 5. Potluck around 6, then the open dance, $5 (free for workshop participants and kids 15 and under). Workshop students get to try their new calling and playing on the floor. Grants from the NC Community Foundation and App State's Center for Appalachian Studies cover the workshops. Schedule may shift with turnout. Details via the Watauga Democrat.
