Voting Nov. 3? Registration closes Fri, Oct. 9, at 5pm. Dates, early-voting sites, ID rules and a sample-ballot lookup, all on one page.
No Kings 4 is Sat, Oct. 17, 4–6pm. It starts with a rally at the Ag Center's Vote Early stage, then a Honk N Wave down King Street and a march to downtown Boone, with speakers and music along the way. Organizers call it nonpartisan and ask for lawful conduct, no weapons. Wear walking shoes, charge your horn, and plan on finding parking early.
Tonight at 6pm, the Foothills Conservancy film A Dream for the Future screens at BRAHM in Blowing Rock. The App Theatre's Hitchcocktober run continues with Shadow of a Doubt at 6pm. Over in Todd, the Down Home North Carolina teach-in at the Todd Mercantile walks through the amendments on the November ballot at 6pm, and at 6:30pm Boone Unitarian Universalist hosts the Ready to Vote community education night.

Read as literature it's a mess, mostly worth it as a document: modernism's most famous poet putting his fascist sympathies on paper in his own words, years before the worst of it landed.
