Music in the Park: Burnett Sisters

We found the Burnett Sisters by surprise. It was our first full summer in Boone as a family, and we wandered down to the Watauga Farmers' Market for the veggies, the mushrooms, the bread from Between the Trees Bread, the whole atmosphere. There is just something about a summer morning at the market. Then we heard them, the kind of close, sibling harmony over old-time and gospel that you cannot fake and cannot teach. But I felt it, and we were fans immediately. Their "Cumberland Gap" is the one I keep humming, and my seven-year-old has already claimed "Jesus Is Living in Me" as hers. Now they're playing Music in the Park. Bring a blanket and the whole family.
