A Newland man charged in the Aug. 19 deaths of two Milligan University cyclists was arrested in Avery County this week for violating the terms of his release and is now back in a Tennessee jail without bond. John Benfield was out on conditions when he was picked up. Two people on bicycles are dead in Tennessee. The person charged with killing them was living here.
