Phase II of Boone's Skate Park Is Open
The state said no twice. The Town, the tourism board and the skate community said yes. The bowl is next.
The master plan for Boone Skatepark. Phase II, the plaza, in red. Phase III, the bowl, in blue. Everything else is already built.
Phase II of Boone's skate park is open, Recess announced on Instagram.
When we wrote about it in September, JP Pardy's crew was about six weeks from done and out of options on the state grant. Two rejections, so Pardy went to the Town directly. Boone put in another $25,000 and its Tourism Development Authority added $70,000. Recess put in another $40,000 of its own, Pardy told us, and donated material and equipment from Vulcan, Chaney Concrete, Sunbelt and Boone Rental stretched it further. Artisan Skate Parks did the pour.
The post thanks the community and the Town, then looks ahead. "Time to start getting after phase 3."
Phase III is the bowl. It goes last because of where it sits in the lot, and the park is being built from the back forward. Pardy told us a new funding donation option is coming for it, and that Recess planned a showcase event once Phase II wrapped. The post announces neither. Watch the shop's socials. We’ll update when we have it.
