Julia Carpenter works with horses and dogs, teaching owners how to actually listen to what their animals need instead of just telling them what to do. She calls it the Two Step Way, and now her animal portraits hang at the Happy Valley Filling Station starting mid-August. This is the kind of work that does not fit neatly into 'art' or 'education' or 'healing', which is exactly why it belongs on the wall of a filling station where real people stop.
