The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for portions of northwest North Carolina, including Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes counties, due to excessive rainfall. The advisory was in effect until 1:45 a.m. EDT on August 2 and warned of minor flooding in low-lying areas and water over roadways.
