♥ Why this matters

The Roan Highlands aren't in Watauga County, but the mountains don't care about county lines. Little Rock Creek got hammered by Helene, same storm that hit us. What SAHC just protected is 54 acres of headwaters, trout stream, and Indiana bat habitat that feeds the same watershed system running through our region.

Every intact acre upstream is protection against the next flood downstream. Every stretch of clean cold water is another good stretch of trout stream.

The High Country is bigger than Watauga County. Sometimes the news that matters most for Boone happens two mountains over.
