Vibey Fall Reading Recommendations from The Littlest Gay Bookshop

Fall is in full swing in the High Country, and for many of us, it’s the perfect time to curl up with a warm drink and a luscious story. These titles are available in the shop, or can be purchased through bookshop.org or Libro.fm in support of The Littlest Gay Bookshop or your indie bookstore of choice.

Hazelthorn by CG Drews

For as long as Evander could remember, he’s lived at the Hazelthorn estate with three rules:

1. He cannot leave the estate.

2. He cannot go to the gardens.

3. And ever since Laurie tried to kill him 7 years ago, he may never be alone with his adoptive parents’ grandson.

Verity Vox and Curse of Foxfire by Don Martin

Verity Vox is a witch in training, traveling with her black cat familiar. She receives a cryptic message from a small town in Appalachia and begins the next stage in her training. If she wants to help the townspeople, she’ll have to get to know them and build trust first.

Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree

Viv, an orc, is ready to retire from her days of quests and adventures. She moves to a small town to bring the cozy delicacy of coffee to a village. As she settles in, she finds a baker, a shop cat, and a bit of town drama she’ll need to handle.

Root Rot by Saskia Nislow

Nine children travel to their grandfather’s lake house. Something is not quite right about this family home - mushrooms ooze blood, people’s faces start to look wrong, and the children hear strange things at night. The story is told from the perspective of The Liar as they watch the other children slowly succumb to this eerie place.

Forest Euphoria: The Abounding Queerness of Nature by Patricia Ononiwu Kaishian

For the nonfiction readers, we recommend curling up with some thought provoking exploration into the inherent queerness of nature. Forest Euphoria explores many topics from fungi to animals to trees, and describes some surprising and unique scientific histories.

Hannah from The Littlest Gay Bookshop recommends queer books across genres. You can reach her at thelittlestgaybookshop@gmail.com.
