★ Why we picked this

Rachael Lewis started Paige's Used Books in West Jefferson because used books were being thrown away instead of circulated, and because secondhand reading shouldn't cost the same as new. She began as a Facebook service and built toward a storefront with a simple refusal, no warehoused inventory, no prices that lock out readers who have less money. A bookstore that works against waste and for actual access to paper and ink.
