Five years into its climate plan, Boone is already hitting the tree-planting targets it set for 2030, and emissions are down. The sustainability office presented the numbers to council, which means this is not a nonprofit's dream or a consultant's pitch, it is what the town actually did. The hard part starts now, because staying on track takes different work than getting ahead.
