Blue Ridge Conservancy and The Conservation Fund have purchased a 1-acre parcel on Grandmother Mountain near Linville that completes protection of a 210-acre tract within the Blue Ridge Parkway. The land, which was the last remaining private property in the protected area, was transferred to National Park Service management by The Conservation Fund in 1998.
