The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for portions of northwest North Carolina and southwest Virginia, including Alleghany, Ashe, and Wilkes counties in North Carolina and Grayson County in Virginia, due to expected excessive rainfall. The advisory was in effect from 11:16 p.m. on July 12 until 2:15 a.m. on July 13.
