The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for parts of northwest North Carolina and southwest Virginia early July 13, warning of minor flooding in low-lying areas caused by heavy rainfall. The advisory was set to expire at 3:45 a.m. EDT and affected Alleghany, Ashe and Wilkes counties in North Carolina, along with Grayson County in Virginia.
